With 2020 being the chaotic mess that it is, I wanted to approach something that I felt I could control: my love life. As a man in my late 20s, I felt as though I had a lot to learn about the dating scene. Although I had a string of long-term and aloof relationships in the past, I never maintained a partner long enough to form something special.
While I don’t consider myself a dating expert ala Will Smith in the movie Hitch, my experience has dramatically changed over the last seven months, and I have a partner with who I see a future. If you want to get the partner who you know is out there and waiting for you, here’s what I recommend.
No One Is Going To Fix You
For most men in their late teens and twenties, the need to find a partner that can help them change their ways becomes a topic of discussion. Daydreams of finding the right man or woman who will come into your life, love you for who you are and encourage you to grow are, without a doubt, a figment of your imagination.
Instead, realize that the power you need to change and expand is currently in your possession. Want six-pack abs, better grades, a good job or a sense of humor that rivals Joe Rogan or Tom Segura? If so, stop looking for outside people to validate who you are as a person.
When I came to this realization, I formed a grandiose goal for myself that would be achievable within a year. From there, I made small, bite-sized habits that would facilitate this goal, manifesting itself as part of my reality.
An odd side effect of doing this is that you become more self-aware and confident in your ability to be efficient and successful. Although I had read numerous self-help books in the past, nothing can compare to trusting yourself to become accountable for your actions.
Online Approach
Being that COVID-19 is running rampant in my city, plans to meet women in the club, bar or gym were almost non-existent. Instead, I began searching Google for “best cam sites” that dealt with dating and socializing.
